If you're struggling

If you are worried about someone else

• Ask directly and calmly: “Are you thinking about suicide?” Asking does not put the idea in their head — it gives them permission to talk.
• Listen without arguing or shaming. Don’t promise to keep it secret if they are in danger.
• Stay with them or stay in touch, and help them contact a line from the list below — you can do it together.
• If they are in danger right now, call emergency services and don’t leave them alone.
• Look after yourself too: you can call these lines as well.
